God Bless You For Your Wedding Day
At Saint Luke Church


1. BEFORE THE WEDDING

A. Contact the Church at least 6 months prior to the wedding for an appointment with the priest or deacon who will witness your wedding.

B. Documents needed: Baptismal Certificate issued within 6 months prior to the wedding. Other documents as necessary.

C. Marriage license should be turned in to the church office at least one week before the rehearsal.

D. Completion of one of the formal marriage preparation programs. (Evenings for the Engaged, Engaged Encounter Weekend or Day for the Engaged)

2. SCHEDULING THE WEDDING
A. Weddings may be celebrated:
Saturdays 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Monday -Friday 10:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
No weddings on Sundays or Holy days.
No weddings or rehearsals Friday evenings in Lent, due to the Stations of the Cross.

B. A wedding between a Catholic & non-Catholic are done with a Liturgy of the Word and not Mass. Communion Services are not allowed.

C. Music: Contact Mrs. Jodi Connor, St. Luke Music Director at least 6 months prior to the wedding to plan your music.

3. REHEARSAL

Schedule the rehearsal date and time with the priest or deacon at the first meeting. Verify this date and time with the Church office who will notify Mr. Charles Moffett. (who assists with the rehearsal)

4. DECORATIONS AND PHOTOGRAPHY

A. Pew decorations may be attached ONLY BY RIBBON.No tape, gum, tacks, etc. No exceptions.

B. Because of the white tile floors, No Aisle Runners Are Allowed.

C. Flowers: We have flowers delivered every Saturday, except during Lent.
You can save on flowers by using the decorations already in the church.
In Lent, you must have your own flowers, but you must take them with you.

In Christmas and Easter Seasons the Church's decorations must remain in place during the Wedding Ceremony.

D. Your Florist is responsible for removal and clean up of the flowers and decorations your bought.

NO RICE, BIRD SEED, OR FLOWER PETALS MAY BE THROWN OR STREWN AT ST. LUKE.

Photographers: It is recommended that professional photographers do your wedding. Photographers must stay out of the sanctuary (altar area).

Video Cameras: Must set up and remain in that one location. (check with the priest or deacon at the rehearsal)

5. OTHER MINISTERS
Please have the readers (no more than two) attend the rehearsal to practice.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are allowed only if they are certified by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. (talk to the priest/deacon)

6. FEE SCHEDULE

There are no set fees for sacraments at St. Luke for registered parishioners.
A free will donation is left to your discretion.
As mention before, fees for the Music Ministry, however, are set for all.

Weddings for non-parishioners may incur an out of parish fee of $ 300.
If this would cause a financial hardship discuss the matter with the priest or deacon working with you.

An offering of $ 30 is required for the church to be set up for the wedding.
If you are having a Mass and request altar servers (2) a donation of $ 10 each is recommended.

St. Luke Wedding Check List

Six months before the wedding:
Meet with the Priest or Deacon for the first time.
Set the dates and times of the Wedding and Rehearsal.
Contact Mrs. Jodi Connor, St. Luke Music Director.

Three months before the wedding:
Complete one of the Formal Pre-Cana Programs.
Meet with the Music Director.


Two weeks before the wedding.
Bring Marriage License to the Church Office.
Pay all fees.
